Celebrating the History of Redmen Hall and the American Flag throughout the Month of July

July is a very special month for Redmen Hall. This Queen Anne style building, originally Skamokawa’s “Central School”, was designed by Portland architect Allen Riley and dedicated with a 4th of July picnic and public speeches in 1894!
Children through grade eight rowed to school from their homes along the waterways that made up Skamokawa’s “streets” in this Columbia River village.
Throughout the month of July, Redmen Hall and the Friends of Skamokawa Foundation are showcasing a History of the American Flag exhibit on our main floor that has been put together by our archivist, Keith Hoofnagle.
Keith is sharing some of his collection of early American Flags. This is a unique opportunity to view these powerful artifacts in person.
