FOS/Friends of Skamokawa is currently closed for winter and will re-open in March. Our FOS Antique Sale is scheduled for March 11th and 12th and will be held at the Skamokawa Resort, more details will be announced shortly. Redmen Hall, with its RiverLife Interpretive Center, formerly known at Skamokawa Central School, was built in 1894. the school closed in 1927.
The Fraternal Order of Redmen saved the building from highway construction by moving it to its present site in the mid 1930s. It then became their meeting house.
The Friends of Skamokawa Foundation, formed as a 501 (c)3 in 1985, purchased the abandoned building and have restored it to its present condition.
The RiverLife Interpretive Center depicts the early history of Skamokawa, centered around the formerly dominant industries of fishing, logging and farming.
